This artwork was created entirely by drawing straight lines to create parabolic curves in a pleasing design. Each motif in the design began its life as a humble square. It is based on a quilting block called Calico Puzzle.
Over a period of more years than I care to admit to, I have pursued a number of creative activities ranging from dressmaking, knitting, hand embroidery (particularly cross stitch and blackwork), quilting, zentangle and art journaling along with a few other creative activities to a lesser degree. As a child, I was fascinated with the spirograph and remember spending hours at a stretch creating patterns, patterns and more patterns. I have always wanted to draw and I now feel that I have come full circle with these artworks being a combination of my love of spirograph type patterns and the precision required for, and the geometry of, cross stitch, blackwork and patchwork and quilting. All pieces are hand drawn using a few simple basic...
